Fibre and why you need it for overall health and sustained weight loss…

Marissa Sylvester

How many of these incredible foods will you include in your dietary menu this week???

Oranges, Strawberries, Blueberries, Broccoli, Brussel Sprouts, Dark leafy greens, Beans and Legumes, Carrots, Squash, Sweet Potatoes, Celery, Bone Broth (Mammal or Vegetable), Banana, Apple, Bok Choy. Chia Seeds, Psyllium Husk, Flax Seeds, Sunflower, Pumpkin Seeds, Almonds…

Fibre helps to regulate bowel movements. Creating bulk if you have more loose stools and hydrating the stool to create softness if you are more constipated. These properties help you pass stools more efficiently with less straining and pressure.

Fibre also helps keep you feeling fuller longer, assisting with blood sugar regulation and increasing insulin response. Blood sugar regulation aids in lowering overall cholesterol levels, supporting your ability to avoid diseases like Diabetes, Cardiovascular disease and even reducing the risk of developing bowel related cancers.

For weight loss specifically, regulating blood sugar directly impacts the bodies ability to flush unwanted toxins from the system. Eating whole foods (fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, beans, legumes) vs. Anti-nutrients (processed foods, high sugar foods) regulate insulin sensitivity and allow for healthy and sustained weight loss. No magic pills here. healthy eating is paramount to your overall and sustained weight loss and health journey!

Today I have already had many of these foods…

Morning smoothie: Strawberries, blueberries, leafy greens, sunflower seeds, almonds and coconut milk (plant based protein, fats and Carbohydrates). A balance of these nutrients keeps you full, brain fed with healthy fats, blood sugar regulated by slowing the release of carbohydrate into the blood stream. whole food nutrition and tasted amazing as well.

If you are not a smoothie fan or have a condition that requires food be cooked before it is eaten I have an amazing recipe for a homemade apple turkey sausage patty with a side of steamed greens. Drizzled in olive oil and garnished with 1/4 avocado. YUM!

Don’t forget that supplementing gaps in nutrition is key these days. Unfortunately Commercial farming practices, environmental impact from industry and the use of pesticides and herbicides have negatively impacted our soil and cut the vitamin and mineral percentages in our foods in half. Not to mention foods like cucumbers once cut immediately begin to loose their Vitamin C. The supplemental industry is trying to fill these gaps but many of these supplements are synthetic ingredients which mean they aren’t as bioavailable as whole foods. It is because of this, I support and back Juice Plus. Juice Plus is the most widely clinically researched, published and third party tested, whole food supplement in the world! Certified Organic, Gluten Free, NSF certified;

This amazing whole food supplement contains the skin, flesh and seeds of each of the plants contained in it’s ingredient list. Some of which are: Oranges, strawberries, broccoli, Brussels, apples and carrots along with 24 other fruits, vegetables and antioxidants! No fillers, chemicals or toxic ingredients to speak of. I love that Juice Plus fills in the gaps of my nutrition and ensures me and my family get powerful levels of dietary nutrients every single day! My family takes the 3 blend Juice Plus capsules daily and we have seen measurable changes in our gut health, hormone health, energy metabolism and the strength and sustained health of our hair, skin and nails!

A healthy diet is key! Paired with clinically backed supplements the powerful combination ensures the overall health and function of your entire body is at it’s best!

In summary Fibre is essential to the health of your digestive and gut health. Cleanses the unwanted toxins from our body, assists in hydrating the bowels, regulating blood sugar, lowering cholesterol and combatting disease in our organ systems. Ensures a maintained healthy body weight and provides sustained and measurable weight loss.
